Welcome to ACA-Adult Children of Alcoholics

Welcome to ACA. Adult Children of Alcoholics is an anonymous Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition program of women and men who grew up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. We meet with each other in a mutually respectful, safe environment and acknowledge our common experiences. We discover how childhood affected us in the past and influences us in the present (see The Laundry List, and The Problem). We take positive action. By practicing the Twelve Steps, focusing on The Solution, and accepting a loving Higher Power of our understanding, we find freedom from the past and a way to improve our lives today.

In areas where many ACA meetings exist, an Intergroup is generally formed to provide a forum for conducting ACA business within a given geographical area. The individual groups continue to conduct their own group business; however, the groups can select a meeting representative to represent the group at an Intergroup meeting. The Intergroup, therefore, is composed of members from the various ACA groups. The Intergroup helps coordinate helpline functions, public information efforts, hospitals and institutions meetings, and ACA events in a given area. An ACA Regional Service Committee serves a similar function by helping coordinate ACA functions and fellowship business among Intergroups in a geographical area.

When an Intergroup is formed, each ACA group elects an Intergroup representative, who attends a monthly or quarterly Intergroup meeting. If there is no Intergroup in your area, your group can elect a Group Service Representative, who can attend the Annual Business Conference. A Regional Service Committee serves as a coordinating point for several Intergroups in a geographical area. Intergroup Representatives attend Regional Service Committee meetings as well.

    Hi Dennis,

We would really appreciate it if you would post our 30th annual ACA retreat on your site. We want more of our Florida friends to attend. If all Intergroups shared information about each others events, we would all be better informed. Here is a link to our event: http://www.aca-arizona.org/retreat

Reply by filling out the form here. It is our volunteer form. Don’t worry if you don’t want to be on a committee, there is a yes or no option on the form. Thank you for your interest.

5 of us drove 2 hours and booked hotel rooms to attend the Inner Child Workshop.
Unfortunately, although we registered and received the schedule for the program, we never received notice of the change of venue!
We were not alone in running all over at St Richards Church in Winter Park, the address on the flyer, in the cold for an hour looking.
We lost the money for the hotel rooms and are disappointed and annoyed!
    We lo

    • Teresa,

I am very sorry that you had the wrong information about the workshop. We post only the information that is given to us. We were not made aware of the change of venue.

We know this does not change what you went through, but we will convey the information to everyone that hosts such a workshop in the future, that they must inform all registrants of any changes in venue.

Again, we are deeply sorry for the harm this caused you and your friends.
